‘Your percentage of top grades at IGCSE is truly remarkable.' (John Lever, Headmaster, Canford School)

'I was really struggling with GCSE German and didn't understand what I was learning at school. My mum arranged tutorials with blt, which I felt anxious about, but my tutor made me feel that I could do really well in German and took me back to basics. I really enjoyed my tutorials. I got an A in my GCSE, which amazed everyone because I was predicted a D at school. Thanks blt!' (Sarah John)

'Danny wanted to bring her Spanish up to the same level as her French, as she thought it might reduce her chances of getting into CLC. Her Spanish soon rocketed under her tutor's direction, and so she decided to take French tutorials too. She ended up getting A*s in Spanish and French and was so enthusiastic about both languages that she chose them both at AS Level in her first year at CLC!' (Alice Taylor)

We provide comprehensive preparation for AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and CIE GCSE/IGCSE French, German and Spanish examinations. Our tutorials provide for both Lower and Higher Tier examinations (listening and reading), as well as Short Course examinations (where applicable).

Our tutorials focus on the development of the four skills examined - reading, writing, listening and speaking - emphasising tailored presentation, targeted practice and personalised feedback, using a bank of proprietary materials (authentic and semi-authentic), questions and papers, as well as past and specimen papers, to enhance fluency and accuracy, develop vocabulary and grammatical control, build confidence and provide enjoyment and stimulation.

We provide an informal assessment for each tutee at the outset. This provides the focus and clarity we need to be able to target accurately where each tutee needs particular support.

Working through the relevant GCSE/IGCSE specification, our tutorials are also interactive and fun, developing creatively our tutees’ language skills, time management skills, and their ability to respond effectively to the variety of question types found in French, German and Spanish GCSE/IGCSE examinations.

Our GCSE/IGCSE French, German and Spanish tutorials help to develop our tutees':

  • Spoken French, German or Spanish as a means of practical communication (including role-play, presentations and topic-based discussion);

  • Understanding of spoken French, German or Spanish in a variety of contexts and genres (including weather forecasts, informal conversations and news reports);

  • Ability to communicate accurately and fluently in written French, German or Spanish for a variety of purposes (e.g. to write letters, articles and short stories);

  • Understanding of the different types of written French, German or Spanish (including signs, instructions, magazine articles, newspaper articles, recipes, and extracts from books);

  • Understanding and application of a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures in French, German or Spanish (including synonyms, antonyms, tenses, parts of speech and word order);

  • Understanding of countries and communities where French, German or Spanish is spoken (including Canada, Austria and Latin America, respectively).
